It’s scary how fast October went by—it still feels like Halloween is right around the corner! But we’re moving fast into a whole new month and, soon, a whole new year.
We wanted to take a moment and look back on everything that happened in October, and in case you missed it, we’ve got the best of the best included right here for you.
First off, we got the opportunity to talk with some aspiring (and inspiring!) game developers at BostonFIG Fest: Boston Festival of Indie Games 2018: What to Expect. More to come there in the following weeks—we’re hoping to spread the word about some of the awesome games we saw while at the festival—so stay tuned.
And speaking about spreading the word for awesome games, we were honored to highlight two indie games in particular on Couch Bandits last month:
- Indie Board Game Spotlight: Dreams of Tomorrow
- Mobile Indie Game Spotlight — Solbot: Energy Rush by Freakout Games
We’re super excited to continue building our Developer Corner, where you can read about the latest indie games and interviews with their developers. And if you’re a dev, feel free to reach out to us! We’d love to chat.
We also featured three new guest contributors last month, all of whom we’re super excited to bring on board to the Couch Contributors team. Check out their posts right here:
- Fortnite: Dissecting the Popularity of the Video Game Phenomenon
- New Features That Might Appear in Animal Crossing for Nintendo Switch
- Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp — What It’s Like to Hit Level 99
Ben Gogel also continued to knock it out of the park with some amazing pieces in October, including:
- Bloodborne and the Horrors of Hardship: When Difficulty Brings the Scares
- Dark Souls Trilogy: A Retrospective of Swords and Souls
- Mega Man 11 Review: Can’t Stop the Rock(Man)
- Final Impressions: The Messenger — AKA Ninja Lied-en
If you’re interested in contributing to Couch Bandits, feel free to reach out! We’d love to collaborate.
We’d also like to reflect on our personal favorite posts from the past month. It’s hard to pick your favorites after working hard on each and every article, but we keep coming back to these five pieces in particular:
- The Best Halloween Board Games to Play This October
- Top 5 Best Horror Films to Watch on Halloween
- The Best Halloween Video Games to Play This October
- Sea of Thieves: Captain’s Log — Howdy!
- First Impressions: Until Dawn
Can you tell we like Halloween?
We’ve been having a blast streaming on Twitch, too: We started the month off with some Arena Mode in Divinity II but also played some Monopoly Plus, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Friday the 13th: The Game, and Dead by Daylight.
We plan to continue streaming every Thursday night, and we always upload our archived streams to our YouTube channel. For more details, see our Upload Schedule or follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for live update notifications.
That’s about it for last month! We owe each and every one of our readers and followers a big thank you. We appreciate all the support and love, and we’ve met some great people through this blog already, including:
- A Geeky Gal
- True Video Games
- Shoot the Rookie
- TwoTall4UFools’ Gaming and More
- Games and Grappling
- The Gaming Diaries
Here’s to many more months of fun!
