One of the most legendary video game franchises of all time will live to see another day after Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz announced the company has officially acquired the rights to TimeSplitters. The press statement marks a surprising return to media headlines for the early 2000s shooter series, which has often been hailed by many as “the heir to GoldenEye.”
It is with great pleasure that we today announce the acquisition of the cherished video games series Timesplitters and Second Sight. Full details will be revealed in due course.

We here at Couch Bandits are thrilled to see the franchise revived, as it’s a favorite of ours. The series combined the fast-paced, chaotic gameplay of games like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, while adding its own unique cartoonish aesthetic and sense of humor. If you haven’t played a TimeSplitters game before, you should—they’re one of a kind. Nothing would please us more than to see our favorite characters, including Dr. Peabody, Harry Tipper, the Chinese fucking Chef himself, and Louie Bignose, return to modern consoles.
Many are now speculating that remastered versions of the original games could be in the cards for the future, alongside a potential new entry to the series. I, for one, would gladly welcome a new TimeSplitters title. The franchise has remained relatively dormant for over a decade, and the time is right to shed some light on these cult gems once again. Remasters please!!! Especially for TimeSplitters 2, my personal favorite.
Judging from Kundratitz’s statement, the future looks bright: “We have many fans of the TimeSplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill today’s gaming audience.”
That sounds an awful lot like a confirmation to me. I expect we’ll be splitting time again very soon.
