Couch Bandits Update: Where We’ve Been — 4/15

It’s been almost two months to the day since our last post on Couch Bandits. It’s crazy how time flies! One day, The Bone Boys are fighting through swarms of enemies in Divinity: Original Sin 2; the next day, nothing but silence.

First off, we apologize for the drop off in posting. When we launched Couch Bandits in 2018, our goal was to publish 5 days a week, and we kept that pace pretty consistent over the course of the first 6 months, but when the new year started, our time and energy had to be dedicated elsewhere. Sometimes, real life does that to you.

But we have no intention of going anywhere—Couch Bandits is a creative outlet for each and every one of us, and the value of exercising that creativity should never be underestimated. In fact, that’s one of the reasons we love gaming: It allows us to have fun and relieve stress. But on the flip side, sticking to such a demanding publishing schedule only proved to exhaust our creative energy, and instead of relieving stress, it began to add more to the pile.

We wanted to avoid that scenario at all costs, so we decided to take some time off for the month of March and recharge our batteries. We hope everyone understands, and we are pumped to get back at it again. We may ramp up to our previous schedule eventually, but for now, we’ll only be posting when we have the free time to do so—and we appreciate anyone who stays around for the fun!

With that said, we’re happy to say you can expect at least 2 new posts this week, featuring Ben Gogel’s take on both Devil May Cry V and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Both Jake and Connor have also been sinking some serious time into Sekiro (Connor actually streamed the Lady Butterfly fight over on our Twitch channel), and we’re all big fans of the game, so we’re excited to see Ben’s post go live!

Connor’s been playing the newest Sea of Thieves content, too, so we might see some new Captain’s Log entries soon. He’s also been working on some videos for our YouTube channel.

After New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Jake spent a lot of time in February playing a few classics on the Nintendo Switch Online NES library, including Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kid Icarus. He also had an amazing weekend at PAX East 2019 and has dedicated all his free time to Sekiro since then, with a bit of relaxing time saved for Yoshi’s Crafted World and Firewatch.

Anyway, that’s about it for the Couch Bandits! Keep an eye out for some fresh posts soon—follow us on Twitter or Facebook for reminders—and we’re still collecting responses for the Gaming Memory project, if you’re interested in participating. We’re also hoping to revive our Twitch streaming in 2019, so stay tuned for updates there.

Happy Gaming, folks!
